What Is a Paint Finishing System?

Equipment Used in Paint Finishing

Paint coating may either be applied through a handheld or automated device. We use different equipment for every step of the process from mixing, feeding, application, and control. Choosing the right pump, manual or automatic air spray gun booth, mixing & dosing unit, and lastly, a controlling device is paramount to an effective industrial finishing system.

Pretreament

Pretreatment and cleaning are important because surfaces need to be decontaminated before finishing.

Conversion coating is the key for long-lasting painted materials. This process has been accomplished for a long time now using iron-phosphate or zinc. However, a phosphate-free technology has been making its rounds in the industry today and looks to be promising as well.

Aqueous cleaning is the most prominent approach amongst highly utilized practices. The process is completed with proper rinsing before moving on.

Application

There are several options:

  • Spray Guns are used to apply paint finishings using highly pressurized air. Spray guns propel atomized paint coating material on the required surfaces.

Curing

Solvent-Borne Coatings

This type of coating is very resilient, especially in the curing stage. This makes it an ideal choice when working in humid environments.

Solvent-borne coating is also environmentally friendly when combined with the right abatement equipment. It’s in high demand for industrial equipment painting.

Water-Borne Coatings

Water-borne coating is getting a lot more popular due to technological advances. The process uses water as its solvent for the dispersion of the resin needed for the coating.

It’s quite easy to apply and also very environmentally friendly. It’s commonly applied in plastic, wood, automotive, concrete, and furniture.

It’s very prevalent and often utilized side by side with other relevant industrial painting equipment.

High Solids

High Solids Coating refers to a single or two-component finishing.
